Photo Gallery: UF Volleyball vs. LSU, 11/13/09 : No. 19/17 LSU’s Brittnee Cooper and Marina Skender combined for 36 of the team’s 52 kills en route to a 3-1 (24-26, 25-23, 25-19, 25-17) win against the No. 10/11 University of Florida volleyball team on Friday evening in the Stephen C. O’Connell Center.

The Gators (20-4, 14-3 Southeastern Conference) were led by sophomore outside hitter Kristy Jaeckel, who turned in a team-high 18 kills as one of three Florida players in double-figure kills. Jaeckel also added nine digs and three blocks for a team-high 20.5 points.

Sophomore right-side/setter Kelly Murphy charted her NCAA Division I leading eighth triple-double of the season and the 14th of her career with 13 kills on .333 hitting with 29 assists and 15 digs. Sophomore outside hitter Colleen Ward followed with 11 kills and seven digs. 

Senior libero Elyse Cusack finished with a match-high 20 digs and became just the third player in SEC history to eclipse the 2,000-dig mark for her collegiate career. UF’s all-time career digs leader, Cusack currently ranks third in SEC history in career digs and needs 37 more to tie former Kentucky standout Jenni Casper for second-place all-time.

Sophomore middle blocker Cassandra Anderson recorded six kills on .600 hitting with four digs and a team-high four blocks. It marked the 15th time in 24 matches this season that Anderson has charted four or more blocks in a single contest. Junior outside hitter Callie Rivers added six kills and three blocks, while junior setter Brynja Rodgers dished out 18 assists.

Photo Gallery: UF volleyball vs. Auburn, 11/8/09 : Sophomore Florida outside hitters Kristy Jaeckel and Colleen Ward combined for 22 kills and 15 digs Sunday and the No. 9/11 Gators hit better than .400 for the second consecutive match in a 3-0 (25-15, 25-18, 25-13) win against Auburn in the Stephen C. O’Connell Center.

The Gators (20-3, 14-2 Southeastern Conference) secured their 19th consecutive 20-plus win season on Sunday. In program history, Florida has recorded 22 total 20-plus win seasons, including every year of head coach Mary Wise’s tenure.

Florida hit .430 in the match, marking the second consecutive match in which the team has hit better than .400.

Ward led the Gators with a match-high 12 kills on .455 hitting with nine digs and two block assists, while Jaeckel followed with 10 kills on .370 hitting to complement six digs and a team-high two service aces.

Junior outside hitter Callie Rivers recorded six kills on 11 swings with no errors for a .545 hitting efficiency, while sophomore middle blocker Cassandra Anderson tallied three kills on a .600 hitting efficiency to complement a match-high four blocks. It marked the 14th time this season that Anderson has charted four or more rejections in a single match.

Photo Gallery: UF Volleyball vs. Ole Miss, 10/25/09 : Sophomore Florida right-side/setter Kelly Murphy recorded a match-high 14 kills on .407 hitting and the No. 10/11 Gators used several lengthy service runs Sunday to notch a 3-0 (25-18, 25-13, 25-16) win against Ole Miss in the Stephen C. O’Connell Center.

The Gators (16-3, 10-2 Southeastern Conference) put together four service runs of four or more points during the course of the match and out-blocked Ole Miss 9.0-2.0 to mark the eighth time in the team’s last nine matches that it has won the blocking battle.

Murphy recorded her 11th double-double of the season with 14 kills on .407 hitting with 15 assists to complement three blocks for a match-high 17.0 points. Murphy has recorded three or more blocks in five of her last six matches.

Murphy was one of four Gators to record three blocks in the match as middle blockers Cassandra Anderson and Kristina Johnson, and sophomore outside hitter Colleen Ward added three rejections apiece. Johnson finished with five kills on eight swings with no errors for a .625 hitting efficiency.

Sophomore outside hitter Kristy Jaeckel contributed six kills and six digs for 7.5 points, while Ward added six kills and four digs to complement her three blocks for 8.0 points.

Senior libero Elyse Cusack turned in a match-high 14 digs to increase her career total to 1,920 scoops, which ranks third all-time in SEC history. Junior setter Brynja Rodgers dished out a match-high 21 assists to go along with seven digs. 

Ole Miss (8-14, 2-10 SEC) was led by junior middle blocker Miranda Kitts’ team-high five kills. The Rebels had five players with four or more put-downs in the match

Photo Gallery: UF Volleyball vs. Mississippi State, 9/26/09 : Playing at home in the Stephen C. O’Connell Center for the first time since Aug. 31, the No. 5/5 Florida volleyball team was impressive in recording its 35th consecutive win in the series against Mississippi State with a 3-0 (25-12, 25-14, 25-18) sweep on Friday night.

Sophomore right-side/setter Kelly Murphy led the way for the Gators (9-1, 3-0 Southeastern Conference) with a match-high 12 kills on .476 hitting with a match-high 28 assists and seven digs for 14.0 total points, while sophomore outside hitter Colleen Ward added 11 kills, a match-high three service aces and seven digs. Ward led the team with 15.0 points.

Florida hit .390 as a team on Friday night, marking the squad’s highest team hitting efficiency in a SEC match so far this season and its second-highest efficiency of the year overall. The Gators out-dug the Bulldogs 46-27 and led in kills 52-25. 

The Gators improve to 35-0 all-time vs. Mississippi State, including a 26-0 mark under Wise’s direction. The Bulldogs are one of four SEC teams Wise has never lost to during her Florida head coaching career. Florida holds a 105-3 set advantage in the all-time series following Friday’s match.

Florida returns to action on Sunday when it plays host to Alabama. Opening serve in the Stephen C. O’Connell Center is slated for 1:30 p.m.

Campus USA Credit Union Invitational Most Valuable Player Kelly Murphy recorded a match-high 15 kills on .684 hitting with 18 assists and seven digs Saturday to pilot the No. 8/9 Florida volleyball team to a 3-0 (25-20, 25-22, 25-15) victory against Big XII Conference foe Colorado in the Stephen C. O’Connell Center.

The Gators open their season 2-0 for the sixth consecutive year and improve to 16-0 all-time in the history of the Campus USA Credit Union Invitational.

Florida hit .411 in the match and demonstrated a strong defensive effort, out-digging the Buffaloes (1-1) 42-19.

Murphy was one of three Gators to tally double-figure kills in the match. Fellow All-Tournament Team members Kristy Jaeckel and Colleen Ward also reached double-digits in kills.

Ward charted her first collegiate double-double with 12 kills on .455 hitting and a career-high 11 digs, while Jaeckel registered 10 kills and six digs. Sophomore right-side/middle blocker Lauren Bledsoe added six kills on .625 hitting.

Senior libero Elyse Cusack tied Ward with a match-high 11 digs. Cusack also dished out eight assists in the secondary-setter role, while junior setter Brynja Rodgers had a match-high 19 assists.

Florida returns to action on Monday when it plays host to intra-state rival Florida State. The Gators will be looking for their 18th consecutive win against the Seminoles. Opening serve in the Stephen C. O’Connell Center is slated for 7 p.m. ET and the match will be carried live on Sun Sports and WRUF-AM 850. Stay tuned to Gator Country for game coverage and photos.

Photo Gallery: UF Volleyball vs. UNLV, 8/28/09 : Sophomore Florida outside hitter Kristy Jaeckel tallied a match-high 12 kills on a stellar .647 hitting clip Friday to help lead the No. 8/9 Gators to their sixth consecutive season-opening victory, a 3-0 (25-16, 25-23, 25-19) win against UNLV in the Stephen C. O’Connell Center.

The Gators (1-0) have now won six consecutive season-opening matches and improve to 18-8 all-time in lid-lifting matches. Florida is 15-4 under head coach Mary Wise in season openers.

Jaeckel’s 12 kills came on 17 swings for a .647 hitting percentage - the second-best hitting efficiency of her career. She also charted a service ace in the match.

Jaeckel was one of three Florida players to register double-digit kills as sophomore right-side/setter Kelly Murphy notched her 22nd career double-double with 12 kills on .261 hitting with 16 assists for a team-high 13.5 points. Sophomore outside hitter Colleen Ward charted 10 kills on .421 hitting and two blocks.

Senior libero Elyse Cusack led the team’s defensive effort with 11 digs, which moves her within 14 digs of breaking into the Southeastern Conference’s all-time top-five for career digs. She now has 1,645 career scoops, just one match into her senior campaign.

Junior transfer setter Brynja Rodgers dished out a match-high 21 assists in her Florida debut, demonstrating relentless effort and impressive versatility in her sets.

Sophomore middle blocker Cassandra Anderson tallied four blocks in the match, picking up where she left off last season at the net.

Florida returns to action on Saturday when it plays host to Colorado at 7 p.m. ET in the final match of the Campus USA Credit Union Invitational.

Sophomore Florida outside hitter Callie Rivers led three players with seven or more kills Dec. 6 in a balanced offensive attack and the No. 11/10 Gators out-blocked No. 22 Colorado State 9.0-5.0 in a 3-0 (25-21, 25-17, 25-23) win in the NCAA Second Round in the Stephen C. O’Connell Center.

Florida (27-3) advanced to the NCAA regional semifinals for the 17th time in the last 18 years to face Stanford at Moby Arena in Fort Collins, Colo., on Dec. 12.

Three Florida players - freshman middle blocker Cassandra Anderson, sophomore middle blocker/right-side Lauren Bledsoe and senior middle blocker Kelsey Bowers - tallied four blocks each in the match.

The Gators won the final home match of the season, overwhelming Alabama 3-0, completing a perfect record at the O’Connell Center.

The No. 14/12 University of Florida volleyball team travels to Columbia, S.C., today to face South Carolina with the Southeastern Conference title on the line. Opening serve in the Volleyball Competition Facility is slated for 7 p.m.

The Gators (23-3, 17-2 SEC) must notch a win against the Gamecocks in order to secure at least a share of their 18th consecutive league title. Florida is currently tied with Kentucky atop the league standings, as both schools have 17-2 conference records. The Wildcats also have one game left, a meeting with border rival Tennessee on Friday evening.

Photo Gallery: Volleyball vs. South Carolina, 10/15/08 : Freshman right-side/setter Kelly Murphy recorded her eighth consecutive double-double and the Florida defense found its rhythm Wednesday as the No. 8/7 Gators swept South Carolina, 3-0 (25-22, 25-17, 25-15) in the Stephen C. O’Connell Center.

Florida (15-1, 9-0 SEC) out-dug South Carolina (14-4, 6-3), which entered the match as the league’s top defensive team, 42-38 and out-blocked the Gamecocks 8.0-2.0. The Gators also out-hit South Carolina .381-.186.

Murphy had 13 kills on .522 hitting with a match-high 22 assists to lead the Gators. Freshman outside hitter Colleen Ward finished with 10 kills on .409 hitting with six digs and a career-high five blocks. Ward also finished with a match-high 14.5 points.

Senior middle blocker Kelsey Bowers tied her season high with eight kills on a season-best .636 hitting, while freshman middle blocker Cassandra Anderson concluded the match with a career-high five blocks and three kills.

Junior libero Elyse Cusack finished with a team-high 10 digs to increase her career digs total to 1,368 scoops. She needs just four more to tie Rachel Engel for third place all-time.

Sophomore outside hitter Callie Rivers registered nine kills on .350 hitting with nine digs, while freshman setter Cindy Bathelt finished with 21 assists and seven digs.

Florida returns to action on Friday when it travels to Auburn, Ala., to face the Tigers. Opening serve is set for 7 p.m. EDT and the match will be carried live on WRUF AM-850 with Tom Collett.

Photo Gallery: Volleyball Fan Day, Orange & Blue Scrimmage, 8/24/08 : Mary Wise has won 17 consecutive Southeastern Conference championships. With a young team in 2008, she will have to rely on her top-rated recruiting class to aid a team that consists of only four upperclassmen. 

UF volleyball fans got a preview of what's to come in 2008 on Sunday at the Stephen C. O'Connell Center during the team's annual Fan Day and Orange & Blue scrimmage.

Wise and the team signed posters for fans, then played in an inter-squad scrimmage of 3 game.

The Blue team dominated the first two games, then pulled out a close game in the third game behind strong play from senior Kelsey Bowers, sophomores Elyse Cusack and Callie Rivers and freshman Kelly Murphy and Colleen Ward. redshirt freshman Kristy Jaeckel played very well after sitting out the 2007 season.

The White team got impressive play from freshmen Cassandra Anderson and Betsy Smith, while sophomore Erin Fleming showed why she will be a major contributor this year.

Boston Celtics coach Doc Rivers was there to watch his daughter play. He say with several members of the UF men's basketball team. Every player except Ray Shipman and Dan Werner were present to watch the volleyball scrimmage.
